 Catholic Prayers for the Departed

Prayer for all the Faithful Departed

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May their souls and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen

Prayer for Eternal Rest

In your hands, O Lord, we humbly entrust our brothers and sisters. In this life you embraced them with your tender love: deliver them now from every evil and bid them eternal rest. The old order has passed away: welcome them into paradise, where there will be no more sorrow, no weeping or pain, but the fullness of peace and joy with your Son and the Holy Spirit forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer for Departed Loved Ones

God our Father, Your power brings us to birth. Your povidence guides our lives, and by Your command, we return to dust. Lord, those who die still live in Your presence, their lives change but do not end. I pray in hope for my family, relatives and friends, and for all the dead known to You alone. In company with Christ, who died and now lives, may they rejoice in Your kingdom, where all our tears are wiped away. Unite us together again in one family, to sing Your praise forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer of Commendation

I commend you, my dear (name) to almighty God, and entrust you to your Creator. May you rest in the arms of the Lord who formed you from the dust of the earth. May holy Mary, the angels, and all the saints welcome you now that you have gone forth from this life. May Christ who was crucified for you, bring you freedom and peace. May Christ who died for you admit you into His garden of paradise. May Chirst, the true Shepherd, embrace you as one of His flock. May He forgive all your sins, and set you among those He has chosen. May you see your Redeemer face to face, and enjoy the vision of God, forever. Amen.

Prayer for Deceased Parents

O God, who has commanded us to honor our father and mother, have compassion in Thy mercy, on the souls of my father and mother; forgive them their sins, and grant that I may see them in the joy of eternal brightness. Through Christ our Lord, Amen.

Prayer for Forgotton Souls

O merciful God, take pity on those souls who have no paritcular friends and intercessors to recommend them to Thee, who, either through the negligence of those who are alive, or through the length of time are forgotten by their friends and by all. Spare them, O Lord, and remember Thine own mercy, when others forget ot appeal to it. Let not the souls which Thou hast crated be parted from Thee, their Creator. May the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

Prayer for the Dying

Go forth, Christian soul, from this world in the name of God the almighty Father, who created you, in the name of Jesus Christ, Son of the living God, who suffered for you, in the name of the Holy Sprit, who was poured out upon you, go forth, faithful Christian. May you live in peace this day, may your home be with God in Zion., with Mary, the vigin Mother of God, with Joseph, and all the Angels and Saints. Amen.

Prayer at the Hour of Death

Eternal rest grant unto him/her, O Lord and let the perpetual light shine upon him/her. May he/she rest in peace. Amen.

May his/her soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

Let us pray. All powerful and merciful God, we commend to you (name) your servant. In your mercy and love, blot out the sins he/she has committed through human weaness. In this world he/she has died: let him/her live with you fovever. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

We are seeking personal testimonies, memories, and relevant information to support the casue for beatification of Father Casimir Michael Cyper, OFM Conv., a Conventual Franciscan priest who ministerd at St. Anthony Church from 1966-1972 and was martyred while serving as a missionary in Olancho, Honduras on June 25, 1975. On the weekend of October 25th & 26, 2025 our parish was visited by Father Juan Pagoada, Vice Postulator for Father Casimir's cause, who invited those who knew him to share their experiences. If you knew Father Casimir personally, or a relative, friend, neighbor shared with you their experience of him, and witnessed his ministry, or have stories, letters, photographs, or other materials that reflect his life of faith, service, and sacrifice, we would be deeply grateful to recieve them or copies of them. These contributions may help advance his cause for beatification.

Below is information that is needed when submitting witness testimonies. This information can be also sent to you via email or by mail if you request it, by emailing: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. (this is the parish office email) The information will be collected and sent to Father Pagoada.

Prayer to the Holy Spirit

Come, Holy Spirit

Replace the tension within us with a holy relaxation.

Replace the turbulence with us with a sacred calm.

Replace the anxiety within us with a quiet confidence.

Replace the fear within us with a strong faith.

Replace the bitterness within us with the sweetness of grace.

Replace the darkness within us with a gentle light.

Replace the coldness within us with a loving warmth.

Replace the night within us with your light.

Replace the winter within us with your spring.

Straighten our crookedness.

Fill our emptiness.

Dull the edge of our pride.

Sharpen the edge of our humility.

Light the fires of our love.

Quench the flames of our lust.

Let us see ourselves as you see us.

That we may see You. Amen.

-Cardinal Merry Del Val
